SWAMP BOUNCE BACK MNF: ***ST LOUIS RAMMIES +3.5***

Man oh man, the Swamp was under siege yesterday as it was invaded by one loss after another. Hey, what can I say, it happens. It is a good thing the 'ol sludge-head has a short memory. In the words of my man Joe Dirt, all one can do is "keep on keepin' on," and that is what SwampNasty does best my friends. So have no fear, cause we will get right back on track starting tonight. The good news is all of my other leans were correct; DA RAAAAIIIIDAAAZZZZ hung tough against SD at home and nearly got their first victory, Da' Boys looked mighty impressive as stormed into Seattle and opened a can of whoop-ass on the Champs, and the Brownies stomped out big brother Pittsburgh in the Dog Pound as well. However, it is easy to play Monday morning QB and play the 'coulda, woulda, shoulda' game so I'll stop it there. I just wanted to point out that although it doesn't seem like it especially after the GMen made me eat my words in such an ugly manner, SwampenStien is still LOCKED in and willl prove it here in tonight's matchup.

We have yet another divisional rivalry on tap for Prime Time Monday Night Football tonight when the San Fran 49ers head into the dome of the St. Louis Rams for what should be nothing short of a brutal, hard-hitting war. The Rams had high expectations this season as they finished strong last year with a couple of wins but they have not lived up to the hype by any means thus far. They lost their starting QB Sam Bradford to a season-ending injury right away which is no suprise at this point. However they have seemed to have found something in undrafted youngster Austin Davis as he has played well lately and been able to distribute the rock quite nicely. The Ram defense is what was REALLY supposed to be the teams foundation and has been a ghost thus far. They have been nonexistant and for being a team with arguably the best defensive front in the game, have only 1 sack so far this season. However, I think that all changes tonight.

The Rams will be AMPED for this game as their rival comes into their house on MNF to try and beat them down. Something tells me Coach Fisher has this team PUMPED UP to defend their dome and get after SF Kaepernick tonight. I think we will see the re-emergence of defensive end Robert Quinn tonight. The man was one of the league's best defensive ends and sack leader last season and has been a non factor thus far. He has a motor like no other and with his partner in crime Chris Long being out with an injury, he really has to step it up another notch and will do so tonight as he will take advantage of the aging and beat up San Fran offensive line. The Rams will cause problems for Kaepernick who has struggled this season, especially in the redzone. They won't have to blitz him as they can rush their front four and be effective and leave everyone else in coverage. The Niners will try to pound the rock with RBs Gore and rookie Carlos Hyde as they have gone back to doing and have been successful with lately but the Rams will be ready for this. They will shut down the run and force Kaepernick to beat them and I foresee him having an extremely hard time doing so tonight. The Niner's defense has gotten better despite not having their captains in the game due to injuries and suspensions but can be beaten and scored upon. I think the Rams will also pound the rock to successfully open up the passing game a bit utilizing WR weapons Brian Quick and newly focused Kenny Britt while mixing in big target Tight End Jared Cook as well. They may stall a bit on offense as the Niners could possibly also stifle them some but then that is where the Ram's arguably best offensive weapon, "Greg the Leg," AKA Legatron comes in and boots some balls deep for a consistent 3 points. All in all I see in my crystal ball a great, hard fought defensive battle between two divisional opponents with no love lost. Their last 6 matchups have been decided by a touchdown or less and I see this one panning out as a replay of the 2012 matchup where Kaepernick was running around like a chicken with his head cut off making costly mistakes resulting in a loss. I have said it once, twice, three time and I will say it again, the NFL is all about picking your spots and matchups, and I think tonight spells a bad spot for the Niners despite having found some success lately going back to their bread and butter of running the ball and not letting Kaepernick decide the game. The Rams will force him to do so and he will fail. I also had a feeling the Rams would be wearing their old-school throwback blue and yellow uniforms tonight and I got confirmation earlier that it is the case indeed, and that will just add to the already PUMPED up St. Louis squad to take out big brother tonight on the big stage. The Niners will get back on track next week against the Denver Ponys but I will get to that one when the time comes. For now, get your popcorn ready as this should be a good one and decided by a FG either way but I personally think the Rams improve to a 2-3 record once the final whistle blows and I am feeling pretty confident about it. RAMMIES +3.5!
